O'Neill Ground Water Engineering Ltd. provided the consultancy required for the entire underground dewatering project at the Lisheen Mine. We reviewed all hydrogeological work, drilling supervision, borehole testing, dewatering monitoring and ground water flow modelling. We managed all aspects of the dewatering of the new mine and were engaged to build, calibrate and implement a ground water flow model to manage the future dewatering of the mine area.OGE undertook an entire review of all the hydrological data and developed new hydrological models of the two main rivers in the mine area to establish the maximum volumes of mine water that they could accept.OGE later undertook a geotechnical and hydrogeological review of the principal water bearing fissure system feeding the underground workings. The objective was to ascertain methods of controlling the inflows to the underground workings by either engineering or hydrogeological means.
