Directive on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources.

 A proposal was tabled on 23/01/08 by the European Commission for a Directive on the promotion of the use of renewable energy sources. This proposal sets the framework to achieve the target of a 20% share of renewable energy sources by 2020. The Directive recognises the requirement for renewable energy regulations. The directive is likely to lead to increased incentives for the development of geothermal energy sources and accreditation standards for installers.
