Hydrogeological reports are typically required in planning applications and discharge licences to ground and should always be provided for developments which potentially impact on groundwater. Hydrogeological assessments are requested as part of the Request for Further Information (RFI) in planning applications, therefore to prevent delays in applications, impacts on groundwater and surface water should be adequately considered from the outset. Hydrogeological Assessments are also required for discharge licences, potable water abstractions and production wells for industrial facilities and private water supply. Hydrogeological Reports are also sometimes required for stormwater discharges to soakaways. BRE 365 is used to assess soakaways and stormwater drainage and attenuation.
